The setting takes place in the afterlife, where Otonashi awakens with amnesia. This anime receives so much hype and, after watching it, I also realize why.Īngel Beats is a Key Production, and those who know about Key will not be disappointed by the story Jun Maeda worked this time. It contains almost everything you could want out of a 13 episode show: memorable characters, great art/animation, meaningful story, comedy, action, drama, fantasy, and to an extent, tragedy. Holding a strong impression on many otaku fans, Angel Beats is at worst a near perfect series.
And so, in my attempt to not piss everyone off, I will try to write down the most accurate analysis (keep in mind that it is still my opinion). I realize that this may be a risky review to do simply because literally EVERY anime watcher has seen this show.
